Jacques y Francois Lurton S.A. was created in 1988 by two brothers, sons of Andre-Lurton, the famous winemaker of Bordeaux (Chateaux Bonnet, La Louviere, Dauzac).
Beginning with the concept that it is possible to create a good wine in any area where there are vineyards under normal conditions, they arrived in Chile in 1997, founding JFL Chile partnership. After years of investigation, in the year 2000 they decided to set up within the Colchagua Valley, in the Lolol area, under the name of Hacienda Araucano, a zone which offers great potential for the production of red wine. Situated on a foothill, the soils have excellent drainage and at the same time have the capacity to retain certain moisture. These qualities in turn give the vines deep roots hence natural water feeding therefore avoiding the necessity of irrigation.
The wines produced are vinified from grapes bought in from viticulturists, signing specific contracts for a very high range production. This winery is inscribed in the Jacques and Francois policy of establishing itself around the World, within regions of great quality potential, such as France, Spain, Argentina and Uruguay.

Araucano Pinot Noir 2011
Variety: 100% Pinot Noir – the red grape variety used to produce the famous Cote d’Or red wines in Burgundy. It is among the most delicate of varieties, owing to its refinement and ability to reflect the terroir, only unveiling its qualities when grown in the noblest soils with low yields and vinified with care.
“Light and open-knit, with good varietal notes of black cherry and spice. The dusty finish lingers gently. Drink now. 5,000 cases made.”

Araucano Sauvignon Blanc 2012
“Consider this a pleasant surprise. It’s nervy and citric on the nose, with hints of sweet and grapefruit. Yet the palate is very clean and fresh, with bright green apple, lime and melony flavors. Pithy but clear on the finish, with zing. It’s what we hope for from Chilean SB."
